Just took a look at the last log and I said I would post in a week. Well that was the plan, but after a few days with the “Moose Twins” it takes awhile to recuperate. We did though have a great time, and I did get into the water, not once but twice. The first dive was at Tarquat Springs, and the second, the next day was at “Yellow Tail Point” were I once again got to work on the boat. I had to install a few zincs to the shafts.
I dove with the Twins and we had fun looking for and checking out the differences between legal and short bugs. (Size) Probable the most fun of the trip were the twins children. Luke kept looking around the deck for “Mama Luke” whomever that is. And Mike was a fishing fiend. Neither of them had problems suiting up, or getting ready to dive.
Since then we made it to “Begg Rock” twice in a row. Once with the Sea Divers, and second with Ocean Safari. On the Sea Divers trip we dove 3 times at the rock, and everyone had great dives, with limits of scallops of course. Chris of the Sea Divers has posted some great pics of the trip. On both this web site, (see photo page) and on the BBS. (diver. Net).
For the Ocean Safari trip we were there just last weekend. Again we stayed for 3 dives and moved on as bottom time was quickly used up. We then moved over to the “Boilers”. The kelp bed there is huge and very, very healthy. It was so thick I could not get were I wanted to dive, and the water was very dirty. Off to “Dutch Harbor”. Unfortunately the vis was very bad. Gab asked me if we could go to “Dutch Harbor” and I told him we were there. We then moved down to the “Sand Spit” still hoping for vis. None. Gab asked were we could go for good vis and I told him SBI.
Next morning we dove “Sutle Island” and vis was around 60’. Then over to “Black Caverns” and again about 70’. We ended the day at “Webster’s Point” and it was very nice. It has turned into a second “Rookery” with much better things to see besides the Seal Lions.
